The following resources are provided to help steer you to organizations and agencies that have programs to help women homeless veterans. You should also seek assistance from your local Department of Social or Human Services. Check your local phone book for contact information.
For Veterans Only

All VA Medical Centers and many Readjustment Counseling (Vet) Centers have a designated Women Veterans Program Manager to help women veterans access VA benefits and healthcare services. Call 1-877-222-8387 to find the VA Medical Center nearest you, or go to www.va.gov, click on "Health," then "Locate a VA Medical Center."

All regional offices of the Veterans Benefits Administration have a Women Veterans Coordinator to help women veterans apply for VA benefits and assistance programs. Call 1-800-827-1000 to locate your local office, or go to www.va.gov/womenvet/page.cfm?pg=25.

Many State Departments of Veterans Affairs have a designated Women Veterans Coordinator to help women veterans. Check the phone book blue pages under “State Government, Veterans Affairs,” or go to www.nasdva.com.

Some community-based organizations that provide services to homeless veterans have programs designed specifically for women. To ask about programs in your state, go to www.nchv.org, click on “Locate a Community-Based Organization,” and search under your state name.
Specialized Programs for Women Veterans
The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded grants to eight community-based homeless veteran service providers to support programs designed specifically for women veterans, including those with dependent children. The grants are funded under the VA Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program. The programs funded under this “special needs” GPD program are:

For Veterans and Non-Veterans
- Women in Community Service (WICS) help low-income women move to economic independence. WICS’ programs provide life skills, job readiness and support services to women who are homeless, on public assistance, in prison, and who are public housing residents.
