Report Helps Nonprofits Hone Their Web Presence

Posted: 9/16/2009

Philanthropy News Digest, a service of the Foundation Center, is offering a series of articles about the effective use of technology by nonprofits. The latest contains an excerpt from a sixty-page Idealware report called "Comparing Open Source Content Management Systems." The report explores the possibilities of having an open source content management system (CMS), which enables users to build a website that non-technical staff members can easily update.

The report considers four of the most popular open source content management systems in the nonprofit sector: WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and Plone. Each is rated on a variety of criteria including system flexibility, features, ease of use and availability of support.
