Trauma-Informed Care for Homeless Veterans: Part 2
March 24, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. ET
On March 24 at 2:00 p.m. ET, NCHV hosted the second webinar in our series on Trauma-Informed Care! In this webinar, experts at the VHA National Center on Homelessness among Veterans and National Center for PTSD focused on building collaborative relationships between the veteran and all team members serving the homeless veteran. We discussed how to recognize adaptive behaviors that often reflect the context of the traumas that the veteran has experienced.
Discussions included how to bridge the gap between these behaviors, and the veterans' goals, leading to greater hope for recovery. We discussed the sense of responsibility that providers feel when veterans do not succeed in meeting their goals in obtaining or maintaining housing, and potential strategies to rethink our roles in order to enhance resilience for all.
