New Veterans Online Resource Center Focused on Mental Health
From the National Alliance on Mental Illness

Recent studies show that nearly one-third of veterans who seek care through Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health centers receive mental health diagnoses. With more and more soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with mental health concerns, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) recognizes the need for increased services for veterans and their families. NAMI’s Veterans Resource Center consolidates the most useful online resources, including information on PTSD, mental illness and how to obtain related VA benefits.

The center provides resources for veterans and active duty military members, as well as their families, friends and advocates. To access the Veterans Resource Center, click here.

In addition to Federal veterans benefits, many veterans are also eligible for state veterans benefits. Ranging from educational grants, scholarships, and exemptions and discounts on taxes to home loans and veterans homes, state veterans benefits can be extremely valuable. Military.com has a 50-state breakdown of benefits offered to veterans in each state.

The JPMorgan Chase Foundation directs the majority of its time, attention and investment toward specific neighborhoods in cities where JPMorgan Chase has major operations. These neighborhoods are typically among the most challenged areas of major urban centers, defined by unacceptably high rates of poverty and historic disinvestment. The firm's philanthropic investment in these targeted neighborhoods is predominantly focused in three centers of excellence: community development, education, and arts and culture. Grant applications may be submitted throughout the year. For more information, click here.

The Valero Energy Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of those who live in or near the communities where Valero has major operations. One of the ways this is accomplished is by providing financial support to a wide range of nonprofit organizations. The Foundation’s website has a list of contacts in different communities across the country.
